Cricket in Newquay:

July 1st We are delighted to announce that Junior Cricket, albeit with a rather strange and restricted format, is restarting from Thursday 2nd July at the Sports Centre. Unfortunately,  the first point we have to emphasise is that both children and accompanying adults must book on line via Sam Millatt on the Facebook pages. Anybody turning up whose name is not on the list will have to be turned away. We cannot offer use of club kit due to Covid regulations and players should turn up changed and ready to go. There is no changing facility.

June 10th ECB Latest statement. Until Social Distancing regulations have been lifted,  there will be no unrestricted competitive cricket in England. We are currently on Stage 3 looking to move up to Stage 4. And no, we do not know what adapted Cricket means either!!

Following Stage 3 of the ECB Roadmap being adopted on the route back to unrestricted cricket, Newquay CC has introduced limited net practice under supervision and with a booking system for groups of up to six. Place your booking using the Newquay CC Facebook Group and comment.
Stay distanced so that we can play cricket sooner rather than later!

Mission statement:-

“Newquay Cricket Club strives to offer cricketing excellence for all standards in an enjoyable, safe and competitive environment”

As one of the top clubs in Cornwall, we offer cricket of  a standard that will suit everybody –  all players young and old with four senior Saturday league teams, a friendly XI for Sunday and midweek fixtures against other Cornish teams and touring sides visiting our lovely town, an up and coming ladies team and three junior groups.

For all other
information, please contact one of the names below for the human touch or look through our site. We play at the Newquay Sports Centre which boasts excellent modern and fully compliant  in- and outdoor sporting facilities as well as easy spectator and disabled access. We have two cricket squares, an all weather wicket, outdoor 3 lane practice nets, superb changing rooms and a sports bar. All prospective cricketers are welcome – regardless of ability! We  are especially keen to encourage ladies to play cricket. All successful clubs need happy volunteers! Please view the Volunteers page to register your interest!

After promotion in year 2019, the first team will again be playing in County Division 1 in season 2020. The seconds will be staying where there are following an inconsistent season in Division 3 East. Following the Div 2-6 end of season meeting held at Bodmin, clubs have strongly requested a return to 12 team divisions which may well have a strong impact on the make of the lower areas of the league!

ECB ALL STARS!!

Following on last year’s stunning success with our All-Stars for the 5-7 year olds (and their family), we will be continuing with this in 2020 for ALL youngsters in that age group.  Lead activator will be club stalwart and  retired Head Teacher, Mike Jelbert. As well as  looking forward to another fun filled season for the little ones, Mike, because of the success, is also looking for more people to help on the evening sessions. So 8 sessions at one hour each to work with your children – all you have to do is submit your name, date of birth and email address so we can clear you with DBS. There is also a more formal course which lasts for one evening in Truro which gives you the activator title. Most important is the commitment to help!  More information and how to sign up is to be found using the following link – ECB All Stars – and  will provide a fun-packed introduction for youngsters (and their family!) into the great game of cricket, a big part of our social fabric!

We are excited about the prospects for the coming season! Local hospitality and entertainment group, Wax,  has taken over the running of the bar as Newquay Sports Bar. And there is a proactive management team running the Sports Centre now. The future looks bright so following our own highly successful season running the bar, we pass over from a position of strength.

The AGM is approaching so we are looking for more people to become involved, Please contact Chairman Dave if you’re interested!
